Advantage Multi for Dogs
Advantage Multi for Dogs offers pet owners a convenient way to combine both effective flea control with heartworm prevention. It uses the same safe and mild flea prevention found in Advantage Flea Medicine in conjunction with another ingredient able to destroy a range of internal parasites including juvenile heartworms.
Advantage Multi comes in four dose sizes depending on the weight of your dog. As ever the only way to keep your pet safe, healthy and parasite free is to ensure you use the correct color coded pack for your animal, so be sure to weigh your pet regularly.
Advantage Multi Color Codes & Pack Sizes
It is important to remember to use the correct sized dose of Advantage Multi depending on the weight of your pet. The packs are color-coded to keep things simple.
For small dogs under 10lb or 4kg choose Advantage Multi Green.
For medium dogs from 11 to 20lb (4 to 10kg) choose Advantage Multi Teal.
For large dogs from 21 to 55lb (11 to 25kg) choose Advantage Multi Red
Ffor extra large dogs over 55lb (25kg) choose Advantage Multi Blue.
All are available in packs of three, six or twelve applications. For the biggest savings buy the largest pack size you can afford.
Using Advantage Multi for Dogs
Advantage Multi is extremely simple to use. As a topical pet medicine it needs to be applied directly onto the skin. The ideal point of application is between the shoulder blades. To ensure thorough distribution of the medicine it is necessary to apply in three spots for dogs over 25lbs (between the shoulder blades, between the hips and at the center of the back).
Advantage should be used every 30 days to allow your dog to enjoy complete protection against both fleas and heartworms. As this is a heartworm medicine combined with flea control you should follow the guidelines for using heartworm prevention. - If you have never used heartworm medicine before get your dog tested for the disease before using any preventatives.
- Use year round for guaranteed heartworm prevention.
- Use regularly. Advantage Multi for Dogs should be used every 30 days. If you forget a treatment use the product as soon as possible and continue every 30 days after this new date.
- If you do not use heartworm medicine for two months or more have a test carried out prior to continuing with its use.
- Only ever use one heartworm preventative medicine at a time.
- Never use cat heartworm meds on dogs or dog heartworm meds on cats.

I am confused … this is not a heartworm treatment only a preventative. can you give them heartguard in addition to this. I understand that it is a treatment that keeps mosquitos from biting. But what if a mosquito does bite them … the Advantage multi doesn’t kill the heartworms like the heartguard does correct? Please explain

Advantage Multi does not deter mosquitoes from biting – it kills heartworm larvae just like Heartgard. No you cannot use Heartgard in addition to Advantage Multi. Both perform the same job of preventing heartworm disease by killing heartworm larvae before they pose a threat to your animal (as long as used correctly every month).
